Budgies, again
[edit]Hello again, Trevor.
I've been putting together a navbox template to place at the bottom of the budgerigar mutations articles you've been working on. I don't know exactly how many mutations you were planning to write about, so this is just a basic 'first draft', knocked up in a few minutes from the list on the site mentioned below. If there's any changes that you'd like me to make to it, or anything that you'd like me to take off there, just let me know.

- Hi Kurt
- Looks a good start. I'm happy with most of these, but I have a couple of suggestions:
- Cinnamon affects the colour of the melanin pigment, so this is colour mutation.
- Maybe just 'Pattern mutations' would be better
- I'm not familiar with Anthracite, so I'll need to bone up on this
- You've missed out a few, but we can add these as we go
- Oh, and I'd prefer Dilute, rather than Diluted, and just Ino. And we'll definitely need the alelles of Dilute - Clearwing and Greywing.
- Trevor37 (talk) 23:10, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
- So, I've made a few alterations to the template (to save me cluttering up your talkpage, see User:Kurt Shaped Box/Sandbox). I've made the changes you suggested and piped the links to avoid repeating 'budgerigar mutation' ad nauseam. Actually, if there's anything on there that you don't like the look of (I'm still not sure whether the various mutations should be presented in alphabetical order or whether the most common mutations should be placed first - or whether there should be a separate section for the rarer mutations), feel free to make changes if I'm not online. I'm sure that I've still missed a few out... --Kurt Shaped Box (talk) 01:36, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
- I've made a few changes. I prefer the one-line-per-mutation layout (makes it easier to check ordering and add new lines). Hope I got the formatting right! I removed the Lacewing - this is a composite (cinnamon and ino) variety, not a mutation. Trevor37 (talk) 12:32, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
- Am I correct in thinking that there's a recessive grey mutation too? That sounds familiar to me... --Kurt Shaped Box (talk) 02:59, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, but it's either extinct or very rare now. We should have a page for it though. Trevor37 (talk) 09:59, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

- Recessive grey budgerigar mutation? Oh yes, while I'm here, I might as well point you to the Whipper (budgerigar) article. It's in pretty poor shape and I've been meaning to work on it for ages. As you seem to be the 'go to man' (heh) when it comes to budgie genetics, do you think that you would be able to write a couple of lines explaining this bird's mutation (feather duster, it looks like) at some point in the indeterminate future? More than once, I've tried to draft an explanatory section but failed miserably to explain it *well*. Just an suggestion for when you get the time. Thanks. --Kurt Shaped Box (talk) 03:11, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
- Recessive Grey budgerigar mutation is fine. Is the navbox ready to be used now? Trevor37 (talk) 10:13, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
- The Feather Duster is a known mutation - not a very desirable one though. It will be one of the last ones I write about (if I last that long). In the meantime I'll add a sentence or two to the Whipper page sometime soon. Trevor37 (talk) 10:13, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
- The navbox can now be found at Template:Budgerigar mutations and has been added to all currently existing articles. No hurry on the Whipper thing, if you're busy - just a suggestion for sometime... --Kurt Shaped Box (talk) 22:32, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Cinnamon budgerigar mutation, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Purplebananasandelephants (talk) 22:05, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Cinnamon budgerigar mutation
[edit]Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. As the article namespace is for encyclopedic content and not tests, the page you made will soon be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Seegoon (talk) 22:13, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

My budgie
[edit]I don't know much about budgies but I'm sure this pic of my late budgie Bobby could come in useful. I'm not sure which mutation he is. Spiderone (talk) 16:48, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
